Post by: Sharon Romany on Sunday 11 October 09 16:54 BST (UK)
Has anyone done any research on Forest House,my grt gran had a son aged approx 6mths who after falling from his pram started having epileptic fits this was around 1918,he was placed I believe in an orphanage due to the family not having an understanding of the illness and being poor, he died in 1956 of an epileptic fit aged 38 at Forest House Leytonstone, was wondering if this was maybe a care home.

Near James Lane is a very large general hospital complete with A & E called Whipps Cross Hospital. I believe it has in roots in the need to look after soldiers who needed large scale medical treatment after WW1 and it has expanded ever since.
I suspect that the hospital gradually took over whatever function Forest House had.
If you google SEAX that will take you to the website of Essex Record Office.
Type 'Forest House' in the searchbox and the very first hits will give you some info which I believe is very likely to be at leat partly relevant to your search
