Lydia ? married Joseph Biggs.
« on: Thursday 31 July 14 09:40 BST (UK) »
I have a Joseph Biggs bpt 29 Jan 1797 Loughton who according to 1841-1861 has a wife Lydia.
Those census state that Lydia was born Norwich Norfolk but her age does vary a bit from 50-1841,64-1851 and 76-1861 so I'm assuming she was born somewhere between 1785-1792.
I have tried to find such a Lydia but far too many born in that time frame in that are for me to pin down and name so I'm hoping that as Joseph was born and lived in Loughton with her and their family he may have married in that area but again nothing is found.
I can't find either of them after the 1861 census but there is a death for Joseph Biggs Q2.1861 Epping reg.
These are my 3xgrt. Grandparents and I would appreciate any help you can offer please,

Thank you

I would surmise that Joseph Perry born to Lydia, no father was probably the son of Joseph Biggs. There is a young Joseph Biggs of about the right age born Loughton and family in London,in 1851,  meaning he took his fathers name.

I couldn't find a death for Thomas Perry in Loughton.

Hi there,

I know you have found out your answer although I have a Biggs family on my maternal mother's side :) Nearly all the Biggs lived in Essex/London :) Do you have any record that Joseph had any other family or children ? There may be a connection :)

Thanks,

Tabitha :)

Hi Tabitha

Sorry! I can't help with any other family for Joseph Biggs, he died in 1861 in Essex. The only possible connection to London that I have found thus far is that an Emma Biggs aged 24 b. Loughton is a needlewoman sharing accommodation in Marylebone with Matthew Deacon, pensioner, in the 1851 census. I'm not sure this is Joseph and Lydia's daughter Susan Emma who went by the name Emma but the age and place of birth fits.
If I can be of any further help please do let me know.

Ah, no connection. I don't think there is a Emma or Joseph in my Biggs family. Although my knowledge of the Biggs family is very little. My great grandfather was Thomas Biggs, then his father was Oliver Biggs and his was North Biggs! But that's about it :(

Anyway thanks for replying ! :)

I'm assuming that you have Joseph b.1797's parents? Benjamin Biggs and Elizabeth Rutledge of Walthamstow who married in Loughton on 10 Feb 1795?
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.
