Good Evening Margaret,
Thank you very much for your mail, it was kind of you and most interesting. My interest in the Stowe family is that my Uncle, James McBride, married Lois whilst working as a chauffer at Althorp. He was my Mother's brother, the family belonged County Down Northern Ireland and Uncle Jimmie came to England after serving in the Royal Irish Rifles during WW1 where he was wounded at Paschendale but survived. After working for Earl Spencer, he went to London and was chauffer for a Mrs. Morgan, who lived at 1, Hyde Park Gardens, she also had houses in Ireland and on the Isle of Whight. My Uncle was with them on the isle of Whight when he suffered pneumonia and died, aged only 47 in 1938, leaving three small children. After a lot of years research, I was delighted to find James children, Sheila (aged 87) lives in Chesham, Pat (aged 85 lives in Overstone and Jim Jnr lived in Crawley but sadly passed away in 2012.
My wife and I visited Great Brinngton in 2012 and saw Lois's grave and also the thatched house where the Stowe family lived, also the war memorial with the Stowe family member recorded. It has given me great joy to find my long lost relative sand I hope you have the same success in your research.
Warmest Regards,
Edward
