Thank you Sharon! Odds are these are my Donald's parents. I'd love to have corroborating evidence but you cannot always find it. For two years I researched a branch of my German side only to find out it was cousins of my direct line, it did work out in the end though got back to the late 1500s.
Cheers,

That's great news about your German line, unfortunately sometimes we are never 100% sure and lines tend to stop after that, I have many experiences in my tree, suspicions yes, fact no.

I have found on familysearch the children of Donald MacIntosh and Rachel Murray:
Jane 1806 Rogart
Hugh 1804 Rogart
Donald 1821 Dornoch
John 1798 Rogart
Patrick 1800 Rogart

Donald and Rachel must have been quite old when they had Donald1821 or he was one of
Their children's child ???. I have also found on familysearch the 1841 census donald1821 living
In Edrachillis and several other Donald Macintoshs in their seventies and eighties. Now does
Any one have any advice to figure out who is who ???

Does anyone know if the 1841 census for dornoch is available? The ones I have don't seem to be complete, especially for Dornoch.

I have found a Donald Macintosh living in Eddrachillis in the 1841 census but with a different family,
It might not be my Donald. If I could find a census that listed family members it would solve a lot of questions.

Hi Chris,

Have found this family in 1841 living at Little Torbo, Darnoch.

Donald Mcintosh 75 army pensioner
Rachel Mcintosh 60
Rachel Mcintosh 25
Margrate Mcintosh 20
Euphemia Mcintosh 18
John McDonald 30

All born Sutherland.

There is a Donald Macintosh working as an ag labourer at a place called Pittintrail, Rogart. But his age is 15.

Thanks Sharon,
I'll look into that. Are you a McDonald? I have another of my line that are McDonalds, I do not know yet what part of Scotland they are from but I believe they came across on the ship HECTOR, the first
Scottish immigrants to Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Thanks Skoosh,
I have run across this site and have found it helpfull, but no hard links as of yet. In reviewing
my Macintosh genealogy I have found a brother or cousin of Donald MacIntosh, his name is
Charles Macintosh . He is listed as born in Dornoch 1823 and settling in Pictou Co. Nova Scotia
And married to a Elizabeth Murray. Both Donald and Charles wives, who I believe are sisters were
Born in Nova Scotia. Hopefully I can make a breakthrough soon.

Chris

An Educated Guess.

Since I can only find one Donald MacIntosh born in Dornoch in 1821 and until more records are
transcribed, I think that the best bet for his parents are Donald MacIntosh and Rachel Murray.
Please be advised that I use Mc,Mac,Mack for my lineage, I have found in many of my family records these were all used. The family in Nova Scotia goes by MacIntosh now.

I conjecture that when Rogart was cleared the MacIntosh family was relocated to Dornoch where
my Donald Macintosh was born according to family records. My MacKenzie family was also from
Dornoch and arrived in Pictou Nova Scotia in 1834. I am going to make the assumption that my MacIntosh side arrived between 1841 and 1847 because my Great great Grandfather Findlay Macintosh was born in Pictou in 1849. I am also relying heavily on the 1841 census with Donald being shown there born on 1821 if it is another Donald, I am completely wrong!
The family of Donald MacIntosh and Rachel Murray:

Donald McIntosh/MackIntosh 1766-? On the 1841 census living in Dornoch
Rachel Murray 1781-?

Their children:
John 1798 Rogart
Patrick 1800 Rogart
Hugh 1804 Rogart
Jane 1806 Rogart
Rachel 1809 Rogart
Andrew 1813 Rogart
Margaret 1817 Rogart
Euphemia 1819 Rogart
Donald 1821 Dornoch died 1895 Nova Scotia

Donald MacIntosh and Christy Murray's children:

Robertina 1848 NS
Findlay 1849 NS
William 1853 NS
John 1856 NS

If any of you experienced genealogists could give me an opinion on my suppositions, it would be much appreciated.
