Thanks,yes I also found the Jones/Cox marriage.I have to say what a strange mix of names and events we have here!People apparently marrying under all sorts of names!its very baffling.Its also not helped by the fact that there are no apparent links in available Trees which would give details of parents and marriages.

It looks like the sort of family that even if you obtained marriage certificates you would need to take the information about the father with a huge pinch of salt.

Its not easy either to pinpoint the Joseph Harper born c 1825 in this as there appear to be a few born in the Sedgeley area 1820-1830.Of course looking for a possible explaination to this there may be the possibility that this Joseph's mother may have been surnamed Clarke and that at least some of his children may have been given the middle name of Clarke?

The 1877 marriage doesn't work.

Abraham married Eliza Wright.

It looks like I've found a mega event concerning this.West Midlands BMD gives the marriage of a Joseph Harper and Hanah(Hanna) Clarke said to have taken place at Lower Gornal St James in 1869.The marriage for the Joseph is listed on Ancestry BMD at Dudley Staffordshire in 1869 alongside the names of William Hancock and Elizabeth Norman,Hannah Clarke's name is missing.

That's the problem when one person is missing, you can go round in circles getting nowhere.

Well this is Abraham and Phoebe Jones in 1881 and sister Martha is with them.
RG11/2868/147/15.

West Midlands BMD again gives the marriage at Lower Gornal St James of a Phoebe Clark and it gives the name as Abraham Fones!
There is a record on Ancestry giving her father's name as a Benjamin Clarke.
