George Short b 1910

Hi there, hope you can help me please.
Im trying to find out what happened to one George Abbott Short.  Born 9/9/1910 in Stalybridge.  Alas died in Q1 1981.
(Father was Walter Short, mother was Rosa Abbott.
His father was a captain in KOYLI, sadly KIA 1918.
As usual any help greatly appreciated.

Can you clarify exactly what type of info you are looking for

Where the lived, did he serve in the forces?

Hi

A starting point would be to buy a copy of his death cert.  It's possible it would show his address at the time of his death and depending on who reported his death - it may give you the name of a family member to work from.

Marriage - there are a number of George A Short marriages but none with his specific middle name

Wow, a dead end then. Not had that here before.  Oh well, thanks anyway, guess I wait till 2021 for the 1921 census :)

It's only a dead end if you don't buy the death cert.  Although death cert info is unpredictable - it may yield some clues to give you a starting point.

Although born in Cheshire - his death was registered in Greater Manchester but neirher Cheshire BMD or Lancashire BMD have a marriage containing his middle name

Many people dropped their middle name when they married

 London Electoral  Roll ,     could be  a   boarding  house  as  quite a few  others  are at  same address     none   with  the Short  surname

 A newspaper article(announcement)   in 1964     is asking him to get  in touch  with  Solicitors  in Sheffield  ,  and they  state ,  ' last  heard of  in Liverpool  area  10 years ago  and  believed to be  on  the staff  of Liverpool  Hotel'
