Ephraim Park, Brasheen, Co Wicklow
« on: Friday 25 July 14 17:18 BST (UK) »
Dear All
Any idea where this place is? It is supposedly the birthplace of Mary Park, b. 1762. the Park family lived in or near Baltinglass. I wondered if Brasheen was a corruption of Raheen, near Baltinglass? Any other ideas please?
Thanks
Mary

I don't see a townland of that name.

the only PARK in Griffith's valuation in Wicklow seems to be in Freynestown Parish - 3-4 miles South of Dunlavin.

Of course, this is a bit later in time.

Thanks eadaoin. In her son's memoirs he says that when her husband died in 1816, she returned to be near her family in Baltinglass. I saw quite a few Park families  in the Tithe Applotment records for Baltinglass in 1824 at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?surname=park&firstname=&county=Wicklow&parish=&townland=&search=Search . One Park is recorded as living at Raheen. Perhaps this is the 'ancestral home' mentioned in her obituary?
