A Military Man?
« on: Tuesday 18 November 14 03:24 GMT (UK) »
My 3g grandfather died 16 Jan 1857 at Huncote, Leicestershire.  On his death certificate in regards to Occupation he is listed as  a Stocking Framework Knitter..and then something which is difficult to read, and which I'll put down the very end of this post so as not to influence your judgement.
Can I have some other opinions please??

It looks to me like "+Pension coming from the 45th (?) Regmt of Foot".

Just a slight change..... perhaps it reads & Pensioner from the 45th Regiment of Foot.

I agree with sami on "pensioner" but would like to suggest "48th Regiment".

48th rather than 45th? I would need to compare with other 5s or 8s on the page if there happen to be any.

Just about to post this and got the red nofication. Snap horsely ... :)
