Message to Alex Wood.
I am also connected to John Wood 1817-1879 and Elizabeth Wood (Howie) 1816-1885 via their last son Alexander Robert (Robb) Wood 1859-1942 who married Ellen Agnes Wood (Cushan) 1853-1923. Alexander and Ellen's second son Wallace Hyacinth Wood was my Grandfather. I am trying to find out more details on Peter Wood who died in 1879 who was supposedly John Woods' father.
If you are able to help me, that would be great.
Regards - Leon LATTA 1951

Hi there, Leon Latta back again,
After further investigation, I have found that Peter WOOD and his son John WOOD both died in 1879 and the records show 'place of death' as 'Old Machar, Aberdeenshire'.
Can anyone shed some light on this 'WorkHouse' and some details of activities there, around that time.
Thanks again - Regards - Leon

Hi, Below is a link to information re Aberdeen workhouses. Oldmachar was the west side of Aberdeen then. The workhouse in Fonthill Road was later used as army barracks. If you "Google" Oldmachar Workhouse you may find more information.
