The Great Trek
« on: Friday 04 July 14 14:47 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have a copy of  "Op Trek. Die daaglikse lewe tydens die Groot Trek", edited by  J Celestine  Pretorius and published in 1988?
Apparently, on page 182 there is a mention of a Hendrik Lezar and I'm interested to find out if this is my 3rd great grandfather. Can anyone tell me what the book says about Hendrik?
many thanks
Sally

Hi Sally

The only information given is Hendrik Lezar's name and it is listed under the heading " Onderwysers en Onderwyseresse Tydens die Trek" [approximate translation: Male Teachers and Female Teachers during the Great Trek". The source given for some of the information on teachers is taken from the book "Voortrekkermense IV  by G S Preller - p. 138 - [Herinneringe van M J Minnaar].
