Isaac Maskell
« on: Sunday 09 October 05 21:42 BST (UK) »
My 3 times great grandfather Isaac Maskell was born in Ashampstead about 1821. Can anybody help me find a baptismal record for him during that year?  He married Frances Hawkins in 1842 and his father's name is recorded as James Maskell.  Is it also possible to identify the family in the 1841 census for Ashampstead?

All help gratefully received. :)

Have you got back any further?

I have a Hannah Maskell marrying a Thomas Head in Yattendon (next door to Ashampstead) in 1783.  Their son (1787) was named Isaac and his son (1810 and 1824) was named Isaac.  There were no previous Isaac's in the Head Lineage.

Hi, I am doing a bit of research for someone, and have reached Isaac Maskell and  Frances Hawkins. I am guessing you have the marriage certificate and that says he is father is James? Bit confused as there seems to be another Isaac Maskell born in 1823 to John & Sarah Maskell in Ashampstead. Any thoughts on the mixed dates?

Regards

Nick

I have Maskells in my family tree.
I believe James and John Maskell were brothers - illegitimate sons of Rachel Maskell (1762 - 1832).
James was ch 4 Feb 1787 Ashampstead and married Mary Johnson 14 Oct 1812 in Ashampstead.
John was ch 9 Nov 1794 Ashampstead and married Sarah Watson 1 May 1814 in Reading (St Mary?).
Both brothers named sons Isaac.
John's Isaac was ch 15 Oct 1823 and was buried 11 Jan 1824 at Ashampstead.
