That is really odd about their marriage entry for sure. Never seen one so blank...and I have seen too many  :P Almost like amnesia there by the bride and groom!

Monica

Added: the death cert for Cornelius, still no mention of his parents' names from what you have found  :-\

;D Oops, :-[Yes,sorry I tried to add everything in order and missed something  ???.

Yes, Cornelius named his parents as Patrick Kilday and Catherine Kilday M.S Brushland/Brieshland?. It's hard to make out. I have already found this a while ago and i was hoping to get a stronger link to them. I have a separate topic about the daughter Bridget (Biddy) and her family.

Much appreciated,

I can see possibly Cornelius by himself in 1861:

Cornelius Kilday, 40, agr. lab. b. Ireland boarding at the Tavin household in Campsie, Stirlingshire.

Monica

On his death cert it lists his occupation as labourer.

His parents are both deceased and his father Patrick Kilday occupation is written as Farmer.

Hi,

I'm looking for a birth for Mary Mc Aulay/Auley and I am not having any luck. No doubt I am missing something but with the name of her husband Cornelius Kilday and her parents Charles Mc Auley/Aulay - Bridget Brice I haven't been able to find it. I have had a look in Scotland/Ireland but can't seem to find them. I have tried using both names. Any advice on what else I could look into is much appreciated.

 :)

Look up birth cert
« Reply #15 on: Sunday 05 October 14 22:09 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for some help. I have been trying to find a birth record for a Mary Mc Aulay but unfortunately her marriage cert doesn't give her D.O.B it does however list the names of her parents Charles Mc Aulay and Bridget Brice. I have tried to find her birth in Scotland and Ireland but haven't had much luck using the dates around her husbands birth and death. She married in Scotland. Her husband Cornelius Kilday was born in 1821 and died in 1886 however I believe she may have lived after this due to another record I have found which lead me towards looking in Ireland.

Any insights on where to continue this search I would very much appreciate. I wasn't sure where to post it. I have a separate post about her parents and the family

Hi Francesca,

Having looked at the other, older topic - and found other items, I'm a bit confused so just checking.

You say Mary's husband Cornelius died 1886, and was born 1821... and I find this fellow:

DEATH: 1885, Campsie, Stirlingshire
Cornelius KILDAY, age 60 years (so born abt 1825)
Died 9 Jan 1885, @ 3h, 25M
At Chapel Street, Lennoxtown
Alum work labourer
Married to Ellen McAULAY
Father: Edward KILDAY, Farm Labourer, deceased

Informant: James KILDAY, son, present

CENSUS 1881:  Main Street Kincaids Land, Lennoxtown, Stirlingshire

CENSUS 1861: Main Street, Biggars House, Campsie

Then there is this........ def. enumerated as Candia! Maybe supposed to be 'Condie/Condy, apparently a pet form of Cornelius'? The address  Cowgate, is the same where your Biddy KILDAY was born 1863:
CENSUS 1861: Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, Dumbartonshire

Hello AMBLY,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my topic and pointing out my mistake. I also admit to being very confused however after reading through your reply I would have to say that I made a mistake with the D.O.B of Cornelius Kilday born 1814 for some reason I seem to have miscalculated his birth and wrote 1821 :-[. I have all of this information but found the 1861 census for Candia Kilday very interesting. Yes, the removal order is what I was referring to. I have been researching Cornelius Kilday and Mary Mc Aulay:
