My g.uncle was in the 19th Hussars - he actually joined aged 14 in 1906 - so I assume he wore a uniform like Larkspur's g.uncle.  Unfortunately, I have no photos of him, his brother my grandfather  denied he had any siblings for some reason.   

I assume at some time during WWI he, too, had to fight as an infantryman, although a war diary I found on TNA mentions men looking after horses in 1917.

Thank you Jim. I was thinking the plainer uniform could have been the Suffolk Regiment.

Lizzie, my grandfather was  in the 15th/ 19th Hussars. He enlisted in 1921 at age 18. I have a small diary of his dated 1927, he was in Cairo at the time and mentions a trooper being shot. The diary is full of details of the horses he was caring for, and his routine.

Larkspur - Unfortunately, my g.uncle was killed in Cambrai, France on 24 November 1917.  Reading the war diaries of the day he was killed doesn't seem to tie in with what is on CWGC.  The war diaries suggest one soldier was killed and one wounded, whereas CWGC has 4 soldiers of the 19th Hussars who were all killed on the same day.
