« on: Friday 24 February 06 09:52 GMT (UK) »
Could someone help me sort a mess out . I have a William and Edward  Lancaster in my family .Now I find that there are another pair with the same names . My William I am fine with as he was my mother grandfather .Edward is the problem, I do have both the death ceti's Edward, no wife on it , a stepdaughter sighed it , both ceti's same parents both died in Australia . The other Edward was born in 1836 Hulme Lancashire came out to Australia then returned to Maidstone Kent . If so I have lost my Edward there is only the one record of  Edward Lancaster . Coming out 1854 . ???Need information on Edward in Maidstone . He married Mary Ann Chambers in Castlemaine Australia . I just do not unstand how my Edward has got lost .

Hi Joburg
My William born 1821 Walton Le Dale Lancashire.
Edward 1826 W,L,D,Lancashire .
The other William born 1833 Lancashire .
Edward 1836 Hulme Lancashire.
My big problem is that my William and Edward both died in Australia ,have their death Cet.
Thinking I was on the right track . How ever I have had a letter saying that Edward born 1836 returned to England was a publican there .Have not hear if there are an Ceti's for this Edward .
My Edward also a publican ,the thing is I cannot find a marriage in Australia for him he was 28 when he arrived .
I did put Edward 1836 in my history wife ,children married where my boy lived .
At this stage I do think I have blowing it if the letter I received and the dates are right . Totaly lost with this one .

Hi Cloke,
I am a bit puzzled by your query but this is what I have found- if its any use:
1891 census has an Edward Lancaster born 1836 in Manchester with a wife Mary A born Kent and children living in Moss Side, Manchester. He is a foreman bricklayer and importantly two of his children, Walter and Alice were born in Victoria, Australia - other children were born Kent.
Hulme and Moss side are close to each other in Manchester but some distance from Walton-le Dale.
If I can help further just post

Edward born 1836 Hulme is in all English censuses except 1861 as a bricklayer. 1871 has three children born USA (transcribed wrongly) between 1861 and 1866.

After rereading your initial query- I realise now that the Edward I have found is the one you wanted to eliminate - sorry I missed the Maidstone and got stuck on publican!
Hope then that it does help.
