Recommendations for Professional Genealoger
« on: Tuesday 27 May 14 06:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I need some help with certain areas of my family tree, and I would like to get some professional help. Maybe someone who specialises in the Glamorgan and Monmouthshire areas.

I live in New Zealand so they would need to be able to accept paypal. I hope that I posted this in the right place. :)

Do you have some specific brick walls or elusive ancestors?

Have you already asked here on rootschat for help?

If not, before engaging a professional, I would strongly advise you start a thread or two here to see what people can come up with. There are some rootschatters with excellent knowledge of Welsh research and also several Welsh speakers.

Worth a punt anyway.  :) Start a new thread with a catchy heading and tell us everything you already know about the family and what you want to find out. Hopefully someone will be able to help.

I think that I may have posted about it before. I am trying to find out what happened to my great-grandfathers half brother who was a lot younger than him. All I have of him is the 1911 census, and you can hardly decipher what his name actually is. But, I can give it another go and see what happens :)

If you click on PROFILE on the bar at the top you will go to a page where you can select "Show Posts" on the panel on the left. Here you will be able to see all your posts and whether or not you have asked questions about this family in the past.

Alternatively and probably easier - you can select SEARCH on the bar at the top of the page, then enter appropriate search terms such as his name, and add your user name. This will show your old threads which mention his name.

If you do decide to ask again about him, provide links to any other threads you have about him so others can see what has already been found or suggested, and so that they don't go over old ground.

Thanks for the link Cas.  :)

Looks very hopeful Rebecca. If I were you I would purchase a certificate or two as recommended on the other thread.

Lucky you didn't bother hiring a professional - your puzzle was solved in no time.  ;)

It is lucky that you did not hire a professional as it now appears it has already been solved prior to this weeks request  ;)

::)

I did advise:

::)

If you do go ahead and hire a professional genealogist please do pop back and let us know what information they manage to dig up.  ;D
