Interesting that the date 1903 is mentioned Carol, as that is when Emmeline Pankurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union.

Suffragettes tended to wear a sash - in purple (for dignity), white (for purity) and green (for hope)?

But I'm sure I've seen pictures with rosettes?

Maybe she was a suffragist?

Suffragists were members of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Society, and were against violence.
Suffragettes were members of the Women's Social and Political Union, formed by Emmeline Pankhurst, and used more militant tactics!

Hi Kevin, I have just read an article that says early sashes appear  as black, my guess is that this one could be purple (as in Cazza's lovely colouring) which the Suffragettes also used to denote freedom.

I could be entirely wrong of course, just my thoughts on the rosette.
