Wow Sue thanks so much for pointing that out about where he was in 1851.

This family belongs to a friend of mine- he is doing a one name study.

I didn't check where he was in 51 ,only that he was still here  :-[

Nearly all of them were born in Tooting Graveney.

Possibly he took off to the USA:

BARLEYCORN W, adult, May 1859 onboard the Princess Royal to San Francisco, USA.
