As far as my research tells me Arthur Montague and Arthur Noel (my gf) are the same person. My father John Joseph Needham (Dec)(aka Jack John) told me that he used to refer to himself as Monty.

Ancestry.com lists two sons of Gertrude Anne(Annie) Hollow (Needham) (da of Joseph and Annie Needham)and Robert James Watson Hollow under Hollows in uniform:
Albert Stanley Hollow, born 19 May 1908, South Melbourne, Vic
Percy Frederick Cecil Hollow, born 08 Nov 1913, South Melbourne, Vic (includes picture on postage stamp in uniform.
Both saw service WWII - Percy WO1 and Albert SGT

I have a copy of a newspaper article from the 'West Australian' 20 May 1903. This article is a transcript of the committal hearing for Joseph Bullock Needham and three others. 'I have attached it as it saved to PDF'. To read the original transcript go to the link at top of the attached. It is a hilarious read.

Hi Spades, thanks for all your help. Re your post ('Gentleman' of Invercargill in 1863) Emily Annie was also charged with uttering forged cheques and did time in 'Lyttelton' jail. Info I have is that she was released from prison after Joseph Bullock Needham wrote a letter to the authorities an due to her being pregnant.

TROVE has many mentions of this misdemeanor - none quite as amusing as the one quoted by Ned.    (Seems it was John Bullock NEEDHAM rather than Joseph)

While I am focusing on Joseph Bullock Needham and his ancestors it is of note, for those researching the Needham family, that Samuel Needham, British Army, won a VC for actions on 10/11 Sept 1918 in Palestine. Wikepedia has a great run down on the events, just search Samuel Needham VC. Would love to know if he is a relative.
