I am helping my friend do her family tree and i am looking for past family.

I am up to Lawerance Heaton abt 1895 which we believe was born in Dewsbury (but not 100%sure)  but from him to my friend they r all from Durham area. Lawerance Heaton got married to Frances Routledge in 1915 I found it on FREEBMD.

They had children:
Margaret M Heaton 1916 Durham
Maureen L Heaton 1918 Durham
Wilfred L Heaton 1921 Durham
George V Heaton 1923 Durham got married to Lilian E Graveling
Dennis Heaton 1926

George V Heaton and Lilian E Graveling

Had 4 children, but can only find 2 on FREEBMD, but my friend told me of two others.

If you are using FreeBMD to search the GRO index of Births then the 'missing' two may not yet have been transcribed, the data base is growing but the years you are talking about are relatively recent so you may have to wait a while for them to reach FreeBMD.

If you are in the UK though, your local library will most likely have access to one of the subscription genealogy sites, such as Ancestry or Find My Past, who have transcribed the index on their sites up to around 2006. If you go to the library and search then you will find them. I have just looked and there 'are' four births with that combination of surnames registered over a 17 year period in County Durham, but these people may still be around so we aren't allowed to post the details in here.

Hello,

if he is the one registered 1895, Dewsbury then this would be him, with parents Herbert and Hannah Mary and siblings, living Liversidge.
1901 4263/ 58/ 20

I agree it does look like a 'possible' but there was also a Lawrence Heaton married in Dewsbury in 1921 (to a Marjorie Bruce) and a death registration for a Lawrence Heaton in 1968 (born c 1895) in Dewsbury, so I'd be wary of tracing the family back via that census return without first getting the marriage cert from 1915 to see what that says about the groom's age and his father's name.

Jaime2013, what do you have to indicate 'your' Lawrence was born in Dewsbury c 1895 ? Does your friend have any idea when and where he died?

Hi Boo,

I agree he is only a possible as there are others born within a few years of that Lawrence.
There is a death in Durham which gives a year of birth of 1890.
Free BMD has  birth in 1890 for Laurence Heaton, Helmsley, North Riding  :-\

The marriage certificate will help and looks to be an essential purchase.

I checked on Durham Registrars Certificates to see of Frances Routledge was a widow as there were a lot of widows around in 1915. She has no other names so this was probably her first marriage.
