Hi

Welcome to Rootschat

Given the fact that people arrived into the London area on a daily basis attracted by jobs and opportunities, unless you have evidence that places Joseph's birth in the London area he may have very well have been born outside London e.g. Ann Weatherill  (widow) who married James Alfred Tipper (widower - first marriage 1806), 5th November 1813 St George the Martyr Southwark Surrey was according to the 1851 census in Middlesborough born in Whitby Yorkshire.

Joseph's burial does at least give circa 1751 as his potential birthdate (if his age at burial was accurate)

Burial
St Andrew Holborn 10th August 1824
Joseph Tipper aged 73 Saffron Hill Workhouse

i know this may not be related but i have found a christening  record of a ann tipper in 1755 in st andrews holborn, this may have been his sister. i know there is no proven link but maybe if you look into her parents you may find a link to your Joseph.

Name:   Ann Tipper
Baptism Date:   23 Dec 1755
Parish:   St Andrew Holborn
Parent(s): Morris Tipper, Elizabeth Tipper

There is also a record for a Joseph born in 1750

name:   Joseph Tipper
gender:   Male
baptism/christening date:   08 Jul 1750
baptism/christening place:   St. Martins, Tipton, Stafford, England
father's name:   Joseph Tipper
mother's name:   Ann

when searching for deaths of Joseph i can only find the one matches to the birth date.

Hi

Morris and Elizabeth Tipper had these children baptised

17th April 1748 St Sepulchre City of London born 30th December
Morrice Tipper, Snow Hill (father's name in the register spelt Morrice)

7th January 1749 St Sepulchre City of London born 28th December

Given traditional naming patterns you might have expected some similarity in names to Joseph and Ann's children but there seems no similarities

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~genepool/naming.htm

John William 1775
Joseph 1777
Thomas 1779
Samuel 1781
James Alfred 1784

There were two baptisms in Tipton Staffordshire to Joseph and Ann Tipper

8th July 1750
Joseph Tipper

12th MAY 1754
William Tipper

Thanks for your messages Valda
I had that information regarding Morris and Elizabeth's children and was hoping that joseph  might have been born in the apparent gap between William 1749 and Ann 1755 especially as the birth/christening of Ann was at st. Andrew's Holborn which is where all the children of Joseph and Ann nee Derrick were christened., but as you say there is no pattern between one set of childrens names and the other so perhaps as so many others  did Joseph drifted to london from elsewhere and the Tipton 1750 birth of Joseph would fit making him 24 when he married Ann.
Do you have a particular interest in Tipper's?

Hello

My grandfather was William Alfred Tipper born 1917 Kensington London. His father was William Tipper born 1846 born in London & mother Fanny Cole. We know his great grandfather was Thomas Tipper, but we are stuck here at the moment. Not very good at this!!!!

this is the link to his tree, if you are able to view it;

Do you think my family from London stems to your family?
