Joshua Threader - missing 1901
« on: Wednesday 07 May 14 12:15 BST (UK) »
Hi

My great grandfather, Joshua Threader, born 1858 Codicote - twice married 1878 Sarah Presland (died) 1896 Mary Ann Ellis.  The last census I can find him is 1891 in Sandridge Herts with first wife.  In 1901 second wife calls herself a widow (I was always told he died then) but could not find death reg. The children from his first marriage were in the workhouse. I later discovered he died in 1933! at Oster House, St Albans, Herts.

I know I may never know but does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might find any record of him?

Thanks

Hi there

Probably unrelated....but you never know!...found a newspaper article from 1898 in Harpenden, regarding a Joshua Threader and an assault on his wife Mary Ann Threader...states they had been married 2 years. the wife states she married Joshua "the man with 7 children" thinking he only had 3....he was ordered to pay £1 fine or go to prison for 14 days.......

Any of this ring true?....can send you a copy if so.....

Sarah :)
