John George (Ian) Scott died 2003 York

This relative died at York in 2003 but i'm not sure which board to post this question on.  i hope this one is okay.

He was born in Hawick, Sco, in 1929. was an electrical engineer in York. I haven't been able to find an obituary for him or a cemetery. all help appreciated. I'm trying to determine if he was married and had family that could shed some light on my Scotts.

A copy of his death certificate might help as the informant could be a family member (wife/child).  Death registration details:

Certificates can be ordered online from GRO and cost £9.25; takes around a week to arrive.
