In the 1911 census, inmates are only shown by initials. Are readers aware of another source which might be used to confirm an individual? Thanks, Toby.

It would be worth checking your local county Archives to see if they hold admission registers - or indeed any patient records for this asylum.

The Wiltshire archives do hold patient records for the Wiltshire County Lunatic Asylum.  They provided me with a CD of a relative's patient file,obviously for a fee.   My rellie was there from 1879 to 1885.  Well worth an email or phone call if you have enough identifying info.
