More Lost Smiths
« on: Monday 06 April 09 22:13 BST (UK) »
I have mislaid a load of Smiths from Nairn and wonder if anyone can help me to find them.

John Smith - born c 1815. Son of William Smith and Margaret Forsyth. In 1841 he was with his widowed mother in Nairn. According to that census he was twenty-five and a teacher by profession.

His brother -

Robert Smith, born 1817 in Nairn. In 1841 he is a Draper in Nairn, aged 20 ( I have his birth date as 12th Sept 1817 so census is doing its rounding down thing)

Another brother -

James Augustus Grant Smith, born 19th January 1822, Nairn. Not in the family home in 1841. Is he still alive?

I can't find any reference to any of them after 1841, anywhere in Scotland. Did they all die as young men or perhaps they have all emigrated. Am I missing something glaringly obvious?

If anyone can help track them down, through marriages, deaths, military service or any other records, I'd be so grateful.

Jen
