Just wonder if this could be the Marriage, the info is from Ancestry.co.uk

26th May 1820
St. Mary Stockport, Cheshire

Samuel Birch = Ellen Adkinson.

Family Search also has the name Adkinson.

Hi Spendlove,

The Stockport marriage is a possibility. There's also the possibility that they didn't officially marry, and simply lived a morganatic marriage with Ellen taking Samuel's surname. I've heard that such arrangements were far from unusual in those times.
