Look Up please GLOSSOP CEMETERY
« on: Tuesday 18 February 14 15:35 GMT (UK) »
I live in Bristol and if anybody will be near Glossop cemetery, I would really appreciate them taking a photo of a grave of one of my relatives.

Details are William Roland Broadbent born 1855, died 08.05.1920, buried 12.05.1920 Grave No. 5287.  Also in the grave is his wife, Sarah Jane, buried 09.011.1943

Many thanks in advance

Martin

Hi Martin

Have you confirmed with the cemetery office that a headstone was erected? Their records should have that information.

Hi Dawn,

No, I haven't done that. I'll send them an email.

Thanks, it might save a wasted trip if there isn't one.

The cemetery office came back really quickly.

There is a gravestone on the grave no. 5287.

They tell me its in section 3b, two rows in from the path.  There instructions to find it are:"walk down the path opposite the Cemetery Lodge (now a private residence) and look for the cross with a kerbset around in the name of Hadfield - the Broadbent grave is two graves in."

So, if anybody will be visiting, I would really appreciate a photo.

Thanks in advance

I live in Bristol and wondered if anybody would be prepared to take a headstone photo for me in Glossop cemetery.  If so, I can supply all the details.

Many thanks

Are you sure that there is a headstone to photograph?

Reason I ask is that I recently found info on a burial in Buxton Cemetery, and when I contacted the Council they were extremely helpful about the location within the cemetery, but told me that there was no headstone for that particular grave.

Glossop is listed here, so if you're not sure whether there is, or isn't, you could contact whoever at the local council is responsible for Glossop Cemetery.
