Servants at Windsor Castle
« on: Saturday 27 December 08 08:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Does anyone know if there are any records of servants who worked at Windsor Castle ?

I am looking in particular for a Richard Woolhouse who may have worked there circa 1800 - 1817

Happy New Year all

Hi Dean,

I wrote to them a while back about one of my ancestors and received a very nice - and quick - reply. They hadn't found anything as it looks as if my ancestor must have ben a 'casual' worker in the King's kitchen rather than on the actual payroll, but I'm sure they'll look for your Richard and let you know.

Probably best to enclose an s.a.e.

Jill

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Hi all

This may interest you, regarding servants at Windsor castle:-

I have made two enquiries regarding relatives employed at Windsor and had two prompt positive responses.

Hello - I know this was a LONG time ago, but I have an ancestor that worked at Windsor the same time your Mr. Woolhouse did. His name was James Merrick. Did you find yours? They may have known each other!
