Hi Derek

Where were they in 1881, I can't see them - do you have the census reference?

Are you sure it wasn't the 1891 census you were looking at?

If the Hartlepool record is the correct birth for John William then my suggestions on the dead siblings are probably no longer relevant. You would need to do the same exercise of looking at births and deaths in the Hartlepool registration district.

She does say 4 children who have died and 2 living.   ;) ;)

There is this possibility

William McIntosh  born June quarter 1891  died Sept quarter 1891  Hartlepool

so Nora would have been born 1896, think she died 1937,

Just to clarify this: I see from one of your other threads that Nora married Walter Tippey in 1914.
A Norah Tippey died in Durham S.E. in 1938 aged 43. If this is your Nora, that makes her year of birth c. 1895, which ties up pretty well with the 1901 census date.

Derek, you have also got some of this information duplicated on this thread  :)
