First Antrim ancestor - James McCANN son of Thomas McCANN
« on: Tuesday 16 December 14 12:08 GMT (UK) »
Hey all,

So I've just tracked down my 2xgreat grandfather in the 1901 and 1911 censuses, living in Drumconway, Coagh. It was a bit of a surprise to see that he is listed in both documents as having been born in Antrim (all my Irish ancestors to date have been born in Tyrone or Derry).

So I'd now like to look for any other record of James, though I have limited information to work from. He was married to his wife, Rebecca Rice/McKeown in 1874. At the time he is listed as working as a scutcher, and Rebecca as a weaver. His father is listed as a Thomas McCann, labourer.

Going by his age in the census documents he would have been born some time around 1847-1850.

I'm not well practised in hunting for ancestors across counties, so any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks in advance!
