Hi Taramcdsmall , just saw the posts and they all look like dates and names fit , great going :D . Ive got sisters Mary , b 1833, Ann born 1836 and marrying a James Docherty, Peter b 1839 , Catherine 1840 and Edward 1846. Possibly Hana never made it .

With masonry work I suppose the family could have been travelling.

It might explain why the other family members are not on IFHF as they may have been baptised in churches in other areas whose records haven't survived.

I cant say for sure what religion they were as i stated Ann was married in the chapel and Edward married in the church of Scotland. Trying to find if Catherine married as older son Peter never .Like a needle in haystack and Scotlands People site is costly ;-) Does it say where in Antrim ?
As for the trade , Edwards boy James died at work as apprentice mason only 15 . Edwards other son Edward left for Ontario , Canada around 1920 and settled there . My Great Granda  Thomas the oldest son took safer option a Carter and stayed local . :)

The IFHF site is very similar to Scotland's people as in it's a pay per view - the info I found was by playing with the free index.

Edward and Hana were baptised in Belfast.

Honestly never knew there was similar site or would have tried on there. Got a few dead ends with my tree as last person is born Ireland and basically just left it . Have got Patrick Roche from Galway back to 1836 birth with his father Michael , a Robert Clarke b1866 and father Alexander and numerous Welsh/Walsh on both sides of family . thanks a million Tara  :)

The IFHF or rootsireland as it's also called is great when you have the information that you had ie BOTH Edward's parent's names.

Just so you know our civil registration only began in 1864 so prior to that you are looking for baptisms and not all churches have great records PLUS not all of them are on IFHF so again it's the proverbial needle in a haystack.

Also bear in mind that they are transcriptions so there isn't always a lot of extra info on them.

The transcriptions are about 4 euro so might be worth getting Edward's if nothing else !
