Goggins Ballinacargy/Caughoo
« on: Sunday 05 September 10 16:54 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on David and Elizabeth Goggins, living in Ballinacargy in the 1821 census but then moved to Caughoo (by birth of their 5th child James in 1829).
They had Elizabeth b 1819, william b 1822, Thomas b1824, David b 1827.
James looks like he was Christened twice, once in 1829 in Ballinacargy (would that have been drung church, they were C of I) and again in 1831 in Kilmore parish.

Thomas went to Canada where he married a Margaret Foster

I would like to find David and Elizabeths marriage, thought she may be from another parish and also if anyone knows any descendants. James in my great great grandfather and he married Eliza Hartley (daughter of Henry Hartley).
Any information gratefully received.

Hi Alison,
I have this Goggins connection, don't know if it leads to your own Goggins line but it's worth a look and maybe others can add to it.
                                                           Regards,
                                                                  Dunmac.

Thanks for that. I know this Goggins family (living in Corfad, Stradone) is on the 1901/1911 census but I can't make a connection to my line as yet.

Hi Catherine from Corfad family, would love to know if you have anything on Michael John Goggins who married Lydia Stafford in 1905. The 1911 census has 3 children, John, Jan(n)e and Martha, are there more to come and are they all still in Ireland.

Any further information on other family connections most welcome.

                                                                                                         Cheers,
                                                                                                              Duncan.

P.S. Moltol, Not sure about Wexford connection as I do not know much Irish geography or much about the Goggins families.

Hi Janet,

What date would your William have been born? It is not impossible but Wexford some way from Cavan, although having said I dont know what happened to William, I can only trace James's and Thomas's lines. The family are Church of Ireland though if that helps. Let me know.

My Tree is on Ancestry if you have access.

Hi Alison , I don't think it was him thinking of years . He died in 1979 aged 86 (?). They were Catholic but I don't know much of where they originated from in Ireland. I'm only just starting to research. I didn't know our surname was a common as it is.
I'll let you know if I find any links .
Thanks
Jan

Your William Goggins is my Great Uncle. Born 1894, Wexford, son of Patrick & Catherine (nee Byrne). He had an elder brother Michael killed in 1915, another Paddy who married a Berry from Wexford and a sister Catherine (also married a Berry). My Grandfather was his other brother, Joseph born 1890. I am trying to get as far back as possible. Patrick Goggin was born in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, 1858. His mother was a Bridget Dunphy. The name may have altered at that time so research is hard. Any info welcome.
