Reginald George Skinner
« on: Tuesday 11 November 14 23:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I'm looking for any information regarding Reginald Skinner (b.1916, Yeovil, England d.1988, Cork)

He came to Ireland with his wife Iris with a family who were buying a house/manor to whom i believe she was a house keeper for (possible). Sorry no clues as to a date or even a decade ???

The lived in a gate house to the the main house. Now from what I've been told the gate house was next to a family run hotel/B & B again possible by a Murphy family as my wife remembers the old lady lived/work there was called 'Nana Murphy'.

This was across a road from a cemetery, I believe this was on the south side of the city. It was whilst on a visit to his wives grave that Reginald collapsed and died.

Again I can only apologies for the vagueness of my request, but I can only live in hope. :-\

Many thanks for taking the time to look

Hi Carole,

Any thing really, That's the right fella,I also have his & Iris's birth regs. plus their daughters. I believe he used to work a westlands when in England.

An address would be amazing, employment details would be great, Cause of death, burial again would brilliant.

Like I said anything from the time of their arrival in Ireland.

My father-in-law was fostered by the Skinners as a child from Banardos. so I would love to try and fill in any gaps with regards to his 'parents'

Many thanks Carole for taking the time, its so very much appreciated

Hi

For the period you are looking at - you are not going to get that type of info online.

Buying a copy of his death cert will give you his cause of death & address at that time and probably his occupation but will not tell you where he is buried (??cremation)

There is only one Skinner/Boran marriage on the index but there are 2 births in 1942 and 1953 in England so those children are probably still living (??Ireland) and may be able to help with further details

As RC has a "no living persons" policy - their details cannot be published here

just happened to notice your post and thought I have heard of that  name, Reginald Skinner. I know very little about them other than there was a Skinner family lived about a mile from Bantry town in  a gate lodge to an old Rectory which I think at that time an Alcock family had bought it. this place is just beside the Westlodge Hotel and a Murphy family owned it, also the graveyard is  just down a little from there across the road .  It all seems  to fit in with what you said in your query .  Hope this is of help to you .
