Disappeared? - Lunn/Donoughue & Lunn/Palmer
« on: Sunday 07 April 13 21:35 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have 2 sisters who seem to have disappeared without trace.

Elizabeth Lunn & Frances Kemp Lunn (daughters of Frederick Lunn & Jane Kemp)

Elizabeth Lunn - 1853 N/C = James Donoughue/Donahoe (several variants) – c1849
Wed 1870 Gateshead.

James was a Mariner & died 1871 prior to the birth of his daughter Jane Ann Donahoe Aug 1871 N/C (my g grandmother)

Elizabeth Donahoe (Lunn) is a widow at her parent’s in 1871 census but subsequently Elizabeth is absent while Jane Ann is with her grandparent’s through 1881 & 1891 until she marries Michael Mellon in June 1891.

Frances Kemp Lunn – 1855 N/C = John Palmer – c1854 Wed 1874 Newcastle.
Daughter Catherine Palmer is born Nov 1874.

Catherine Palmer is with her cousin Jane Ann Donahoe at their grandparent’s through 1881 & 1891 until she marries Henry Paterson in 1895.

I have been unable to trace either of the sisters since their absence from 1881.

Any help would be welcome. It hasn’t helped with the variants of the surname Donahoe.

Regards,

A. M.

Thanks - just realised the dates don't match for Elizabeth on 1871 census. The census is usually mar/apr & Jane Ann was born Aug - will have to go back to the drawing board 1st to check that before I consider the rest  ::)
A.M.

Update - Jane Ann isn't on 1871, my mistake so have corrected it.

Will now look into your info as it looks a good match with yet another variation of the surname. Can't fathom why she didn't take her daughter if it's her.

Hello Anne

Don't know if you're stilll looking for this.

Frances Kemp Lunn, married John Palmer 5/4/1874 All Saints CoE, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

She died 27th January 1876, aged 20 years, 11 Matfords Entry, Newcastle upon Tyne, the death is registered by her husband John as 'Fanny Palmer'. She is buried in All Saints Cemetery, Newcastle upon Tyne, unconsecrated ground Section A No 468.

For the record, the below entry is the most likely death for John Palmer.

John Palmer aged 31 years of Bryson Terrace, All Saints parish, buried 14/12/1884 All Saints Cemetery, Newcastle upon Tyne, consecrated ground Sec C.

Hope this helps
Patrick

Thanks Patrick,

All info. always appreciated.

I didn't have a death for Frances & only the free entry date for John so that's great although I do have their marriage cert.

I think a closer look though would probably reveal "Fanny" to be "Jonny"?  ;D

I wonder what the cause of death was for each as they were very young?

Annie.

UPDATE.......Sorry Patrick, didn't realise this was from you until I read your email, thanks :-)
