My mother went to a private school in Henderson Row in 1935 which subsequently closed in 1936.  She remembers it being run by 2 sisters one of whom she thinks was named Miss Robertson.  This may be corroborated by the following:

Thanks so much Alasdair that looks like the correct school. The dates add up too. She was born 1921. She then went on to secretarial college in Queen Street and became a shorthand typist.
I am amazed how many small private schools existed at this time. Edinburgh has obviously always had a huge number of pupils in the private system
