Hi, I think the answer is Samuel Free (b 1809) and Mary Webb, George was born 1833. Siblings are Charles, Sarah, Lydia, Amelia and Samuel.

Samuel ( George's father) had a brother Benjamin (b 1815). It is this Benjamin who's sons were those you mentioned.

Going back further from Samuel, his parents, grand parents etc....were:

George Free (b 1771) and Mary Frost
William Free ( b 1724) and Martha Hawes
John Free (b 1692) and Ester Bowtell
Reginald Free (b 1660) and Ann Carter
Richard Free (b 1599) and Mary Asland

Mary was Richard's 2nd wife, his first was Alice Eves.

Richard and Mary were from Great Chishill (Chishall, Chrishall - multiple ways of spelling it and it seemed to move between counties Essex and Cambridge)

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any info to contradict this.

Regards

Karl

Karl,

If George was born in 1833, can you explain why is he listed as 18 in 1859 on the passenger list?

I think the confusion comes from 'cousin', they are actually 2nd cousins.

Re-checking this I agree with Stephen and Harriett being George's (1841) parents. Stephen (George's father) and Benjamin (Addison's father) were cousins and therefore George (1841) and Addison were 2nd cousins.

Addison did have an actual cousin called George (1833) who was a bastard child of his uncle Samuel. Samuel was Benjamin's brother.

I hope this makes sense :-)
