Can anyone provide further info. ref. WN? Thought to have been an aerial phototographer in Fleet Air Arm, WW2. Docked in River Tyne, Walker Naval Yard, Newcastle c.1940, probably for repairs or refit. Poss. HMS Victorious but speculative. From Edinburgh. Dob unknown but probably c.1910-1920 ish. Regards.

Has anyone any personal connection to this William Nicole or his family?  Believe his father  or grandfather in police force. Am aware of a Walter Nicole who was a police inspector in Selkirk but not sure if he was a relative. Regards.

Have you viewed his birth record to confirm his parents names and father's occupation?

The 1913 (14th November) birth record has his parents as James Nicole (Police Constable) and Pamela Galbraith Rhynas married 20 December 1912 South Leith.

William married a Margaret Melville and he died 1996 in Linlithgow predeceased by Margaret in 1981.
