Elizabeth Jane RODGERS - Feakle, Co Clare, Ireland
« on: Sunday 27 April 14 12:13 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth Jane RODGERS, I believe was born about 1845-46 in Feakle, Co Clare, Ireland. It was about 1851-52 that she left Ireland and arrived in New Zealand. When in NZ it seemed she dropped the name Elizabeth and just used the christian name Jane. On the 25th September 1872 saw her marry Denis FITZGERALD in the Catholic Church Christchurch. They went on to bring 10x children into the world. Elizabeth died on the 22nd Nov 1922 at the Lewisham Private Hospital, ChCh, NZ and was buried on the 25th Nov 1922 at the St Brigid’s RC Cemetery, 237 Whiterock Road, Loburn North Canterbury NZ, although there doesn't appear to be any "official" record of her there. If anyone can assist with a connection to parents or the actual departure from Ireland I would be most appreciative and grateful.
FITZGERALD, KINGDON, LANGE, PEENE, SJÖSTRÖM

I checked the old church records for Feakle parish dated 1842 to 1861.
I did not find any mention of Elizabeth Jane Rodgers.
The church records are very old and difficult to read and 30% of records were NOT registered.
Your post says she was only 6 years old when she left Ireland. Do you know who traveled with her?
Is the connection to Feakle verbal or do you have other information?
I have some Rodgers in my family tree from Feakle parish.
