This could be a complete red herring HOUSE 2000  -
but there is a Henry Jull aged 35 born England occupation Contractor living at 6 Green Mount Villas, Burntisland, Fife on the 1851 Census. He is with  his wife Elizabeth and a domestic servant.

I only draw him to your attention because -
the name Giles could a corruption of Jull  :-\ , Think English/Scots accents and mispronunciations.
Burntisland  is only 14 miles from Ballingry and 8 from Lochgelly
his occupation as a Contractor - could be builder/ joiner/engineer /landscape gardener?? Who knows??
I can't find him or his wife on 1861 - so either moved away from Scotland or dead or under another name??

I have looked for Henry Giles snr since your previous threads and like you say he doesn't seem to have left a trace on BMDs/ Censuses.

Looby :)

I had a look at the census you mentioned loobylooyr. It is possible that there is a connection. I found a Henry Giles in the 1861 Scottish census. He was an Able Seaman at Pittenweem but if his age on the census is accurate he is too young as his estimated birth year is 1843. The mystery continues!
