Hi Poodlz,

Is this is the topic referred to?

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=593093.msg4435620#msg4435620

I can merge it with this one if you'd like.

The new merged topic will remain on Cumberland Completed Requests. Is that ok?

Bit confused here there seems to be two threads going one some months ago and another one in the last few days with Minniehaha.  But either will do.
Thanks for your help

Hi Poodlz,

From what I can see you have two topics on the subject of Edward BELL: this one and the one whose link I provided above which is currently sitting in Cumberland Completed Requests.

If topics are merged together the posts sort by date. This means that because your Cumberland topic is older the posts in this topic will attach on to the end of that topic.

Having another look at the topic on Cumberland Completed Requests I think it would be best to move that topic over to the New Zealand Board and then merge it with this topic.

This means that all your BELL family research is in one place for easier reference.

Would you like me to do this?

I can only take your advice as being best as I am fairly new using this site and not quite confident with all, so yes go ahead.
Thanks
Poodlz

This one, your NZ one, the one you have been posting on. Just go back to page one and you find it all together.

Cheers

Sorry to be a bore..just don't quite understand.  I have all the history of Edward Bell here in New Zealand, what I am trying to find is how her got here and the 'mystery' of what a remittance means?
So shouldn't my board with a UK site??

Hi,

Until the other day I had never heard of a "Remittance Man", but it was in a book I was reading, Not all Remittance Men were black sheep, some were often sent away because they disgraced themselves and were paid to leave the UK by their family to be sent to the colonies never to return.

Here is one explanation of Remittance Man.
