Am looking for a marriage of John Patterson, born 1825 in Dromara, father was William Patterson, mother Elizabeth McMurray. Many thanks

Marriage registrations usually just give age as 'full age' and mothers aren't listed. Without a bride's name it would be difficult to know which marriage might be the correct one.
You can search the online civil registration index (free) at www.familysearch.org.

Lots of Patterson listed on this site.

Hi,
Marriage took place in Holy Trinity Church of Ireland, Drumbo.
Regards

Many thanks for all the information, especially the link. Thought I had hit a brick wall, but things have now opened up again.

How can you be sure the marriage found was the correct one? Even is father is named William and date seems logical you could be following up the wrong people.

That is a big problem, I have already spent many hours on the totally wrong John Patterson thinking he had moved to Tyrone when he hadnīt. There were a lot of John Pattersons around at that time so will have to investigate further, as it may not be him.
