Sara Crawley 27 January 1650

Hanna Crawley 9 July 1651

Virtually all marriages and baptisms in Beds pre 1813 have been extracted onto the IGI, and all of them in South Beds have been. If they're not on the IGI you need to look further afield. Herts and Bucks are the starting points.

If you've a number of names from Luton to research it may be better to visit Bedford library, Luton library or Bedford Archives and look at the parish register transcripts rather than glean partial information from the internet or rely on others to do so for you. You will gather so much more details and have the satisfaction in doing it yourself. The variations in surnames are not picked up readily by some website search engines but are obvious when reading the original documents or even transcripts.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I am not in the financial position to travel to Bedford to look at the Archives, nor pay someone to do so that's why I use the internet and also Rootschat to see if anyone can help. I have also helped people using Rootschat so it works both ways, plus its good to help!
I appreciate all replies what people send and thank you for your help also! :D

Hi Alex

As David points out Bedfordshire is well covered on the IGI

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi

I imagine you've already searched it, so if nothing showed for their marriage then they probably married elsewhere, as David suggest Bucks or Herts are likely.

You can search here

https://www.hertsdirect.org/ufs/ufsmain?ebz=2_1405520888378&ebd=0

for Herts marriages.

It is also worth having a search here for names you are looking for

http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/CommunityAndLiving/ArchivesAndRecordOffice/SearchOurCatalogues.aspx

Trying variants such as Crawly, Crawlie, Crowley etc. All sorts of stuff might pop up including wills.

Good luck
Jan ;)

The Luton PR confirms these children with a few amendments (high-lighted in red)

John Crawley and wife Elizabeth having the following children baptised at Luton:-

Elizabeth Crawley 26 February 1645 - Born 26 Feb 1644/45 .. of Stopsley

Mary Crawley 22 January 1647 - Born 27 Jan 1646/47 .. of Stopsley

** As per the transcript .... there are only 5 entries (including the above) between end Dec 1644 & start Sept 1647 due to missing leaves in the parish register, and no Bishop transcripts between 1642 & 1649 to fill the gap. These were all BORN & found at various other places in the PR

Sara Crawley 27 January 1650 - Born 27 Jan 1649/60, no baptism date .. of Stopsley

Hanna Crawley 9 July 1651- born 23 June .. of Stopsley

Rebecca Crawley 14 July 1656 - .. of Stopsley

Thomas Crawley 1 December 1656 - actually baptised 14 Dec 1653, born 1st Dec

John Crawley 29 June 1661

There is no sign of John & Elizabeth's marriage.
