Waterford News and Waterford Mail
« on: Friday 21 June 13 10:05 BST (UK) »
Please can someone point me in the right direction, after much help from previous enquires on Rootschat, I have found approximately 10 newspaper articles that I would dearly like to include in the 'family story' I can view the reference on Horizon Information Portal but can't get further than that.  I have followed the link suggested by a Shevy and Vasaborg but unfortunately found no joy either.  I am not in a position to visit the library as I am in South Africa!  Is there any way of accessing the information electronically?

Regards
Vanessa

Hello Sooty24

I am sure this is a huge task, but I will be so indebted.  Thank you so much. If you have to physically look up the articles, then I will give you only references of the most important ones:

24 Apr 1914 Waterford News Courtenay Edward Johns Hill House Waterford Page 5 Microfilm# 43 The article refers to a wreath laying ceremony on the centenary of Edward's birth on this day. Under Social and Personal.

20 Aug 1915 Waterford News Courtenay William Hovendon Page 5 Microfilm# 43
Mrs Clibborn, England, sent a manuscript of an interesting article written by her brother ..
Article is published in the issue in Local and District Gossip Columns. (Subject: Military)

13 Apr 1917 Waterford News Courtenay Edward (T.C) Page 5 Microfilm#48
There are five grandsons of the late Edward Courtenay serving as offices in the army (Subject: Military)

21 Oct 1921 Waterford News Courtenay R.M Page 7 Microfilm#57
Letter by R.M Courtenay in reply to one written by his uncle on the Irish Question (Subject: Irish Independence)

We know so little about the life of our Irish ancestors, and newspaper articles are one way to a glimpse of their daily lives. However exciting or mundane it might have been!

Kind Regards
Vanessa

Sooty,

You have no idea what this means to me!  Thank you very very much!

I trust I can return the favour some time.
