Maurice and Cromwell families
« on: Monday 05 July 10 07:05 BST (UK) »
Mortimer Maurice married Catherine Cromwell in Bristol in 1821. Mortimer was descended from Joseph Maurice who was a medical man of Bristol but who was buried in Haverfordwest. Joseph was a son of William Maurice born circa 1695 in Carmarthenshire.
I have tracked the Maurice family back as far a sit will go, but I am totally stuck on Catherine's line.
It would be great if, as I am in New Zealand, somehow I could track down some other descendents from this same line.
One of your people kindly sent me some photos of the line of Catherine and Mortimer and was going to send me Catherine's line, which he said went back to Thomas Cromwell, and naturally I would love to have it.
I never heard from him again and he was in Aberaeron, Ceredigion, but there does not appear to be a board for that region.
Catherine's parents were John and Hannah Cromwell, she was baptised in Marksbury, Somerset in 1799 and I have been on that board and asked..
I believe the father of JOhn Cromwell was a William Cromwell who married twice about 1754.
It would be lovely if somewhere in Britain there was a descendent with this information who could help.

Ceredigion is the present name for the county of Cardiganshire, allowing for some small changes. Boards are organised as the counties were in from 1851 -1901.
