SIMS William John. Born Plymstock 1894
« on: Wednesday 30 July 14 15:53 BST (UK) »
I am sure this is very much of a long shot but William John Sims was born in Plymstock (his mother was Alice) on the 12th September 1894. He served in both World War 1 and World War 2 as a regular in the Royal Navy as a Cook and eventually became a Petty Officer.  I can find no trace of him ever marrying and he appears to have died in Plymouth in 1974.
I am trying to obtain a photo (if one exists) of him for some research regarding a WW1 warship in which he served. As such I would be very grateful for any leads that may help in me tracing any possible family leads.
Many thanks
Peter

Very many thanks indeed for that Keyboard86 - I clearly made a mistake over this one!

Have just gone back through his Service Record and found he was at HMS Impregnable at Devonport in late 1919 so that certainly fits.  He went on a draft to Constantinople, Turkey but that was not until 1920 although I initially read it as being 1919.

That is a great help so thank you once again.
Kind regards
Peter
