All registers, apart from those currently in use, are now housed at the Carlisle Archive Centre, who share the building with the Cumbria Archive Service. The Carlisle office handles all the certificate requests for the whole of Cumbria now.  The address is

His first marriage was to Dorothy Dent in 1836 but she died Nov 1855. So I am looking for his second marriage to MARY DENT after that time.

   Could this be the Dorothy Dent daughter of Anthony and Barbara, baptised in Arkengarthdale on 22 October, 1818?    There is a mention of Anthony and Barbara in Fraser Welsh's page on the Dent's of Spennymoor and Arkengarthdale - http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/e/l/Fraser-Welsh/index.html

The parents of Dorothy Dent were
John Dent b1780 Kings Meaburn and Mary Nicholson b1776 Asby.
Dorothy was baptised in Soulby 1812.
