Amy (Amey) Iles
« on: Thursday 11 September 14 20:03 BST (UK) »
Good evening

I am wondering if anyone can help me please?

I am researching my family tree but have drawn a blank with a sister of my great grandfather.

What I know:
Amy (Amey) Iles was born in 1876 in Lechlade, Gloucestershire.
Her father was Timothy Iles (b 1847 in Lechlade, d 1909 in Cirencester)
Her mother was Emma Iles nee Carter (b 1847 Abingdon, d 1886 Cirencester)
On the 1881 Census she was living in Lechlade with her family
Siblings
Emma (b 1865, d 1889)
Caroline (b 1867, d 1890)
Frederick (b 1872, d 1928)
Florence (b 1878, d 1904) married name Osborne
Minny (b 1881, d ??)
Alfred (b 1885, d 1916)

What I would like to know
* Did she marry
* When did she die
* Any children

I have searched for Census, Marriage and Death Records without success.

Any help would be appreciated

D

Hi just done a quick scan but will look further, have you checked out the possible marriage of an Amy Iles to either Archibald Leonard Gardner of John George Humphries Sept 1906 Northleach 6a 813?

EDIT Archibald married the other lady Jane

It looks as if her mother died between 1881 and 1891 as Timothy has a different wife then. So have you looked to see if she is with grandparents or other relatives in 1891?

I don't see a birth for an Amy ILES that would match but there is one for an Ann Maria. ???

Annie Maria ILES married Edwin GODDING Jun Qtr 1897 Highworth. They are easy to find on the 1901-she's born in Lechlade in 1876.

Then:

Marriage to William GODDING Occ:Soldier
Ann Maria GODDING widow
Event Date:   31 Oct 1916
Parish:   St Mary, Finchley
Borough:   Barnet
Father Name:   Timothy Iles (Occ:Coachman)

Does this sound feasible??

Maureen

That looks a good find Maureen, as in 1881 and 1901 Timothy Iles was a groom.

Thank you keyboard86, Groom and MaureeninNY for your info ... great help.

The info from you MaureeninNY is especially interesting as a distant relative did mention a GODDING relative but wasn't sure where they fitted in ... will have to dig out my notes and see what I can find.

Everything else that has been mentioned rings true ... Timothy's first wife Emma dying in 1886; he remarried to Sarah later that year and went on to have 8 children
Timothy was a groom / coachman

Thanks again for all your help
