Hi - I agree it is a bit complicated - Spidermonkey and I were on a roll and kept finding information. If you go through it step by step and write it down you should be able to work it out. The Rainbow comes from the Smith part of the family ie Oliver George Thorn's wife.

It can get quite overwhelming to suddenly have a set of ancestors that you never knew about - and with you also finding out about closer relatives too it must be quite unsettling.

For me, I always find that I understand family trees better when they are drawn up - that way I can also see when I have got all the individual's details.  There are some sidetracks along the way - for example Percival Rainbow Smith is not your direct line, but I was curious about his name so had a look at him.

Nice to remember Percival Rainbow Smith as well if he was killed in World War One.

You can find him here  http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/1769349/SMITH,%20PERCIVAL%20RAINBOW

Unfortunately, as far as I can see, his army records don't seem to have survived, which is a pity as they would have given you more details about his short life, including appearance.

Just don't use the public trees on Ancestry for looking at Percival Rainbow Smith's parents - they seem to have gone up the wrong tree. :-\

I think MArjorie had a sister, who died in 1992, but as far as I can see her (the sister!) husband is still alive.  It is possible that he may well be able to answer questions that you might have.

Hi Spidermonkey.
Just sent Groom a PM and asked for it to be forwarded to you also.
I am sure that you will be Interested in the contents...
Now looking at the "Smith" side....I cannot believe you pursued this line back to the "Rainbow"...
Still making Copious notes and trying to fit the Information you have provided into my Tree...
Will not do so until I have had the opportunity to check...Hope you don`t mind but anything Incorrect added to the tree seems to "Blossom" in the wrong direction..
