Mary Ann BENNY
« on: Wednesday 05 November 14 09:15 GMT (UK) »
I have previously posted under the name Mary Ann UREN but it now appears that she might have been the daughter of Francis BENNY and Mary Ann UREN. She married William Joseph HADDEN in 1880. I had assumed from her marriage certificate that a) she was a widow and b) that her father's name was Francis UREN but a search for confirmation has proved fruitless. The BENNY family appear on the 1861 census and can explain the marriage discrepancies, ie the maiden name and possible confusion over her father's name or is this too greater leap.
I have found her brother William's death but haven't been able to trace the rest of the family after the 1861 census. Can anyone help?

You may have found a Mary Ann listed as Binney born 1855  and living with her grandparents William and Grace in 1871 in Bideford?

I thought that mickawinn thinks the information on the marriage certificate is wrong, and she gave confused information as to her father's name and any previous marriage.

Mickawin,
Have you got any birth certificates of children, for her maiden name?

There is no marriage 1841-1861 for a Francis Uren

The Uren/Benney marriage was in 1851 so no question of illegitimacy

Completely baffled as to why she would use her correct birth surname but show herself as a widow and use her mothers maiden name for her fathers name

It was either one heck of a hen night or she was totally confused
