Hi Maureen, here is the info from the Death Certificate for James Hendren
At Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh - usual residence 6 St Clair Place, Leith - on 19th June, 1915
James Hendren                   Professional Football Player                  Aged 28 years
Spouse: Annie m/s Gordon

Father: James Hendren        Coal Miner
Mother: Bridet m/s Doolan

Cause of Death: Acute Lobar Pneumonia - 6 days
Registered by Stephen L Seager - Friend - 87 Montgomery Street, Edinburgh

Had a quick look for him on the 1911 census when he was still with his parents in Lochgelly, Fife and see that his father appears there as Charles rather than James.  I would suggest that as it was a friend not a family member who registered his death that the census is probably more accurate.

Hope this helps  isk :)

Thanks for looking isk and getting back to me.
Yes, his father was called Charles, it just shows how mistakes are made.

Hello Amanda, great to get your post. Do you know much about your family tree? I have quite a bit of information on the Hendrens, my mum was a Hendren.
James grandfather also called James was a brother to my grandfather John.
My Hendrens were in Ayrshire, are you in Scotland?
Hope to hear from you.

Hello there! Thank you so much for replying! Trying to work out if we are related or not? I only know names and dates I don't know family history particularly I know on one side of the family somebody came over from Ireland I would love to find out more about that I even went to Cork to see if I could find anything but I could not. I also found out I have a famous cousin I believe he is a second cousin who used to play for Hibernian the people from the Hibernian Football Society gave me his contact details. my father was James Charles Hendren and he died in 1974 I was only 15. he never mentioned about his father but his father died when my father was still very little. I know nothing about my grandma I believe her name was Annie Hendren nee Gordon and she remarried
where abouts are you I live in Nottingham. Love Amanda
