Hi Terry,
His name was Samuel Rice and he was born around 1869. I have a copy of his marriage certificate. He was 24 when he married my gr grandmother  Isabella Rice in 1893 in Scotland. He was Roman Catholic and yes I am from Scotland. He died in 1915 and Isabella was left to bring up her young family. My grandmother was 5 when he died. Incidently she was called Sarah.

Hi,
My Gr Gr Grandparents were called John Rice and Elizabeth Morrow. They were married on 11/09/1858. Elizabeth was born on 14/02/1830 in Dromore Parish. I understand her father was called Thomas Morrow and her mother was called Eleanor Downey. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Marie

Hi Marie,

My Gr Grandfather George Rice (b. abt 1860) married Rose McLoughlin (b. abt 1870) of Hill Street, Lisburn (see attached).  My Gr Gr Grandfather was John Rice who I believe lived in Lisburn.  Have you come across any George's in your research?  I know there was a connection to Port Glasgow, Scotland.

I joined the Rice Family Y-DNA Project.  Have any of your Rice males had their DNA read?

Pat

No they havent Pat. I haven't come across any Georges in my research and as far as I am aware none of the family settled in Port Glasgow. They started off in Helenburgh and then moved to Govan. The Rice DNA project sound interesting. Thanks for the info.

Hi Marie,

Just found some more info. I believe Elizabeth Morrow married to John Rice may have had a brother George. My info suggested that he was born c. 1840, but it maybe a George Morrow b. 1834. It maybe possible that he married Anna Rowan in Ballymena in 1870.

I also found a George Morrow marrying Anne Monaghan in Belfast also in 1870 but the Morrow/Rowan marriage have connections to the County Down area of my family line.

Wonder could anyone confirm?

Regards
Terry

Hi,
Not sure if these are the marriages which you found. The information which I found varies from yours.
14 Aug 1870 George Morrow married Anne Monaghan in Downpatrick Church of Ireland.
22 Jun 1877 Waddell Morrow married Anna Rowan in Brookvale Presbyterian Church, Banbridge.
In both cases the father's name is George Morrow

Hi,

Is the George Morrow that I have (b.1834) and that I "presumed" married Anna Rowan in Ballymena, 1870 actually:

Waddell Morrow married to Anna Rowan in Banbridge in 1877.

The George Morrow b. 1834 could be a brother of my gr gr grandfather John Morrow b.1827. father Thomas Morrow/ mother Eleanor Downey. George Morrow died in 1892 aged 58 so is it possible that his name is George Waddell Morrow?

Waddell Morrow & Anna Rowan had children - 2 of which, Waddell emigrated to Canada, George died in Scotland.

Regards
Terry
